A Navy SEAL is bombastic with his knife that doesn't mean he knows how to box. Weapon skill also does not translate to h2h. Fatigue isn't an excuse if his damage soak is actually as good as what's implied, and it's definitely not an excuse if he doesn't feel pain.

GOD OF WAR 4 BALDUR FULL
The fact that Baldur gets hit by a full boxing combo by a slower fighter than Superman (practically TKO) is an anti-feat for him. Faora is not as fast as Faora in an average basis. Even in striking, he's lunched Kratos hundreds of feet in the air with simple uppercuts, and has dazed and bloodied Kratos with his punches. Kratos is stronger than Faora based on feats, so even if she got him in that position it probably wouldn't have worked.īaldur has no piercing resistance but he's no sold being punctured on numerous occasion, by Kratos' ax, Chains, he's absolutely no sold arrow fire from Kratos' son on numerous occasions and Faora's knife is tiny and something she barely uses.īaldur's better. Baldur was aware of his curse, and that if Kratos broke his neck he would eventually come back because he was unkillable and 2. That, combined with the fact the Kratos and Baldur grappling actually broke a clifface in half, makes it seem pretty outstanding that you'd come to the conclusion that she is the superior grappler.īaldur having his neck snapped by Kratos again isn't really a bad thing because 1. The fact that Superman was able to get to grips with her fighting style by focusing more on grappling as you said, despite having no formal training is actually a strike against faora. She doesn't get any special points for beating a person with no formal combat training especially considering her heritage. As Zod said he had been a farm boy, while Zod and presumable Faora had been warriors. Superman had only been Superman for a day when he fought Faora. Or course it doesn't really compare to Comic-book characters, but he has shown far better than what Faora has done, and Baldur was strong and fast enough to give him the fight of his life. To make a weapon like that work effectively requires a large amount of skill.
GOD OF WAR 4 BALDUR SERIES
His primary weapon for much of the series are Blades on the end of Chains which he flails about with deadly precision. Kratos is a much better fighter than Faora, he was Sparta's best Warrior, and canonically, he's shown aptitude with spears, swords, bows and arrows. Now we have the speed factor, where Faora can match Baldur when she doesn't even try, and any attempt at grappling her to cancel her speed like what Clark did would end up in him losing badly. He has no piercing resistance, so he's not tanking that any time soon. Faora has the advantage in striking, grappling, and her knife is just an extra edge if she decides to stab Baldur in the jugular or insert the tip through his eye. So, just comparing the fighting styles here. Krypton is thousands of years ahead of Earth, so I suspect that they're far beyond our modern MMA. The fact that Baldur didn't show anything is pretty weak sauce (fatigue is not a reason that someone would flail their arms). Grappling is a pretty common thread throughout the numerous martial arts throughout the world Greece, Scandinavia (Yes Vikings were actually very big on wrestling), Africa, etc all had some form of grappling. He also has no grappling feats and got punked by that rear naked choke very quickly, displaying zero signs that he even knew an escape (he flails his arms instead of instantly pulling down on Kratos' grip so that he can get his back to the ground on the camera's right side). Smart move, considering that she would've blitzed the hell out of him otherwise like she already did in the iHop.īaldur's fighting style, from what I've noticed, isn't nearly as tight and technical as the kind of thing that Faora would typically train with (Superman's combo came a lot faster than anything Baldur has thrown, including later cutscenes in the game). The only reason she slowed down later in the fight with Nam-Ek is because Clark kept grabbing her. Keep in mind that Faora wasn't trying and easily caught / evaded all of Superman's attacks with her "lol you suck Kal" speed. I don't think his runes should be taken as a no limits fallacy. Speed wise they are similar (blur speed, FTE at times).Īlthough he can still be beat even if he isn't hit with mistletoe as Kratos snapped his neck in their first fight and pushed him off the cliff, but he just came back because of his curse. No Kryptonian are rocking those type of strength feats aside from Kal-El, Zod and Doomsday.

The Stone he threw at Kratos likely weighed thousands of Tonnes, and merely grappling with Kratos caused a entire cliff face to collapse.
